CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Director of Athletics announced on Tuesday that softball coach Candace Abrams has resigned her position to seek other opportunities.

“I appreciate all that Candace has brought to our program over the last five years,” McBroom said. “She’s a competitor, a leader and a role model for student-athletes. We wish her all the best in her next challenge.”

Abrams just completed her second season as the Lady Buffs head coach as WT went 32-15 (22-8 LSC) including the program’s seventh straight trip to a South Central Regional. She took over the program in 2018 after spending the previous three seasons as an associate head coach leading them a 40-13 record (21-6 LSC).

Prior to coming to WT, Abrams spent two seasons as the head coach at Colorado Mesa with a record of 55-38-1.

A national search for WT’s next softball head coach is underway.
