West Texas A&M junior Brandel Woodman was named Lone Star Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday.  It is the first weekly honor for the Buffs this season and the first for Woodman of his career.

Woodman, a native of Dumas, Texas, finished fourth at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational Monday-Tuesday with a 54-hole score of 1-under 215 on rounds of 72, 70 and 73.  He earned all-tournament honors for his efforts as he helped lead the team to a fourth place finish also.

His 70 for the second round was the low-round for the team in the tournament.  Woodman also tallied his career-best finish as his previous best was a tie for ninth at the Territory Classic in 2013.

The Buffs return to action at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., at the New Mexico State University Golf Course, Sept. 28-29.  That tournament will be a preview of sorts as that is where the NCAA regional will be held next spring.
