New research suggests fatigue is a major contributor to pitching injuries in young baseball players.
The study simulated a 90-pitch game for a group of elite adolescent pitchers looking at how shoulder and elbow motions – affected their ability and pain tolerance.
As the players experienced more pain and fatigue they changed their pitching mechanics which can ultimately cause injuries.
Experts say programs that help young pitchers build strength in their core and legs may help prevent shoulder and elbow injuries.
