Xcel Energy could soon be taking to the skies in its efforts to enhance public safety.
Last week, the energy company announced the first-of-its-kind partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Together, they’ll research the safe operation of drone technology.
The agreement involves using the drones to inspect more than 20,000 miles of transmission lines across ten states.
According to Xcel, the F.A.A. Will use the collected data to secure the nation’s airspace now and in the future.
