AMARILLO, Texas – Xcel Energy employees and retirees, along with generous help from the Xcel Energy Foundation, gave United Way of Amarillo and Canyon a gift of $455,708.
“United Way is the top recipient of our employee and corporate giving across the region, and it’s because their impact on community life is so large,” said David Hudson, president of Southwestern Public Service Company, an Xcel Energy company. “Our employees know the value of teamwork when meeting big challenges, and United Way is the ultimate team for improving the lives of families in need in Amarillo and Canyon. They put our dollars to good work and do the job for us.”
“Xcel Energy has close to 1,000 employees in Amarillo and Canyon, and United Way participation has been high for many years,” Hudson said. “Today’s gift reflects pledges made by employees and retirees in the 2015 fall campaign. As an added incentive to employee and retiree giving, the Xcel Energy Foundation matches gifts made to United Way dollar for dollar.”
