Wreck Hospitalizes Amarillo Man with Possible Life-Threatening Injuries; One Person Arrested

AMARILLO - An early morning wreck on New Year's Day sends an Amarillo man to the hospital and an Amarillo woman to jail.

The wreck happened yesterday, just after 5 a.m.

According to police, a white Cadillac and a black Toyota were driving north on the 3000 block of S. Washington. Officers say the driver of the Cadillac, Haiden Noelle Sloan, 22, hit the Toyota from behind, causing the Toyota to drive off the road and hit an unoccupied pickup parked in a residential driveway.

Firefighters had to extract the driver of the Toyota from his vehicle. He was then taken to the hospital with what's believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Police say Sloan showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. The offense is a third-degree felony punishable by up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
