Woman hospitalized; man arrested following early morning wreck

One woman, 24, was ejected from a car and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries at around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 21. 

The Amarillo Police Department officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle wreck near the 3400 block of south Bell Street.

A 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was being driven by Alfredo Renteria, 24, had been going northbound on south Bell and lost control. 

The SUV left Bell street, went down a cement embankment, crashed through several fences, and hit two trees before ending up back on Bell Street.

Renteria was arrested and booked into Randall County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a charge of Intoxicated Assault. 

Speed, alcohol, and no seat belts are factors in this wreck.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the APD.
