Kids today are subjected to a much more stressful environment than ever before.
Stress manifests it’s self in several ways: younger kids not wanting to be away from parents, brain not being able to shut down at night and having sleep disturbance, irritability/ anger, not wanting to try new things, etc.
Ways to help combat this:
- Be a media monitor
- Harness the power of helpful thoughts
- Teaching kids to breathe
- Engage in gratitude
- Be a safe haven
- Prioritize sleep
- Allow free play
- Get out in nature
Parenting Challenge: Parents having knowledge and intentionality are a powerful pair when equipping kids with the resources to combat stress and anxiety. Take steps to help kids identify when stress is in their life and provide them the tools to effectively deal with it.
