Haskell County, TX - The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed a second death in a fatal crash involving members of the Vernon College rodeo team.
Vinita Jean Trevino, 19, of Petrolia, Texas was transported to Hendrick Medical Center following the accident on Saturday evening. Trevino was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to DPS, Jakob Todd Plummer, 20, of Witchita Falls is at Hendrick Medical Center and is listed in Critical/Incapacitating condition. Drew Davis Hill, 20, of Canadian, Texas was also transported to Hendrick Medical Center. Hill is listed in Serious/Incapacitating condition.
DPS Investigators also confirmed the driver of a second vehicle was injured when the students ran a stop sign. Michael Lea Moynihan, 73, of San Angelo, was transported to Haskell Memorial Hospital and remains in serious/incapacitating condition.
According to officials, Moynihan was wearing a seatbelt. It is unknown if the four Vernon College students were wearing seatbelts.
20 year old Yancie McCuistion of Sugar City, Colorado was also killed in the crash. His mother, Farrah McCuistion issued the following statement to KTAB in Abilene: " Yancie was full of life. He touched everyone he met, always quick with a smile. This world lost a son, man and friend, but we are thankful for the time God gave us with him."
