VA Offering Flu Vaccines for Veterans and Spouses Starting Tomorrow

News

((PRESS RELEASE))

The Amarillo VA Health Care System will offer several flu vaccine clinics for eligible Veterans and their spouses. Vaccine clinics begin on September 25. Dates and times are listed below. Texas Tech School of Pharmacy has partnered with the VA to provide vaccine to spouses who are not VA patients but who are eligible for Medicare or Tricare.

This unique arrangement allows for couples to get immunized at the same time in the same place for their convenience. Each year, this event has been successful in getting many Veterans protected from a dangerous illness. Evening and Saturday clinics for Veterans are offered as well

Dr. Richard Siemens, Amarillo VA Chief of Staff, is a strong backer of the annual vaccine. “If we are ill with the flu, we may not be affected much, but we could greatly affect the people around us and those we care for.” Employees are also offered free vaccines to protect themselves and their patients.

Veterans may call the hotline (806) 468-1890 anytime to get the latest information about the clinics and the vaccine availability.
