Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced that several residents at the Ussery Roan Texas State Veteran Home recently participated in an Ambassador of Peace Medal presentation, presented by the Korean American Association of Amarillo Area.

More than 30 residents received an “Ambassador of Peace” proclamation and medal for their unwavering service in Korean War. The ceremony was the first time the Veterans received this honorable recognition and was part of the Association’s larger Veteran’s Day ceremony and day of appreciation.

“We are grateful for the Korean War Veterans who tirelessly served our country,” said Commissioner Bush. “As Chairman of the Veterans Land Board, it is my mission to make sure all Veterans receive the honor and admiration of our fellow Texans. It is fitting that the Korean American Association has bestowed this honor upon our residents. To our Veterans-thank you for the courageous sacrifice you made to protect our freedom.”
