Correction: An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information about the non-city website. The error has been corrected.

UPDATE: The City of Fritch has updated a previous notification warning residents to not use a third party bill pay website to pay City bills. They now say doxo.com is a “legitimate, trustworthy 3rd-party payer of bills.”

The updated notice says, “We simply wanted to encourage caution when using online bill-pay and want all citizens to spend their hard-earned money where they intend. We are just trying to look out for the taxpayers! And, we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

EARLIER: A City of Fritch notice to residents says “there is another site claiming you can pay your City bill.”

City officials say the site is doxo.com and is not authorized or associated with the City of Fritch. They say, “Do not use this site to make online payments for your City bill.”

They say the correct site is www.fritchcityhall.com and you should use the “Pay Online (Utilities/Permits)” tab for secure online payments.

The notice says the City cannot “replace money you spend on the wrong website.”

We spoke to doxo.com co-founder Roger Parks. He says it is a legitimate site through which people can pay their bills. The site says, “Pay thousands of billers with just one login.”

“They (The City of Fritch) have been in the directory since 2011,” Parks said. “We have 19 Doxo users that have the City of Fritch as one of their billers.”

Parks said they are a third party bill pay site where people can pay all their bills in one place.

“I do this for 30,000 billers in the United States,” he said. “We have over 2 million users in the United States.”

He said the site gives people the ability to pay via mobile.

“We’re actually a really great service,” Parks said.
