The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a house fire in west Amarillo this evening.

At 8:10 p.m. crews were called to 7th and Mississippi on heavy fire coming from the back of a house.

Captain Larry Davis with the Amarillo Fire Department said there was a sunroom type add-on in the rear of the house was fully involved with fire, and the fire was extending into the living area of the house and also into the attic.

We are told there is also a duplex apartment on the rear of the property that suffered some exterior radiant heat damage but did not catch fire.

Cpt. Davis says the house is for sale and was unoccupied when the fire started.

It is unknown at this time what that cause of the fire was and crews will continue their investigation.

Officials say the fire was contained by 9:14 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

Damage is estimated at $35,000.
