The United Way had more than a dozen organizations along with 300 volunteers give back to the community today during their Day of Caring.
KAMR Local 4 News and Fox 14 News helped the Opportunity School give a helping hand. They assisted in painting the walls of some of the rooms.
Other organizations that participated were the City of Amarillo and Canyon, Xcel, and more.
“It’s amazing how just a little bit of paint can go a long way in making something look entirely different,” Latesha Hill, a volunteer stated. “I’m glad to help any way I can.”
Volunteers got the chance to enjoy breakfast and hear from Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson and Canyon Mayor Gary Hinders.
