Trial Begins for Man Who Assaulted Troopers


Testimony is being heard today in the case of a Clovis man who allegedly injured troopers, escaped to Amarillo, and was involved in a standoff with Amarillo SWAT.

In September of 2015, Victor Apodaca was wanted out of Clovis for kidnapping, drugs, and stolen weapons.

He was stopped by DPS and then allegedly injured the troopers.
A day later he was found in Amarillo.

After an hours-long standoff, Amarillo SWAT was able to arrest Apodaca.

The two troopers who were injured, recovered.

Jury selection for the case was yesterday and testimony began today.
