Public Meetings Scheduled for ParkMobile

Public meetings have been scheduled for ParkMobile, the cloud-based pay-by-phone system provider for downtown parking in Amarillo that will allow people to skip the parking meter and pay for parking from their mobile device. ParkMobile is free to download and available for both iPhone and Android devices.

The public meetings are:

  • Thursday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. Amarillo Downtown Library, 413 S.E. 4th Ave.
  • Thursday, March 7, 6 p.m. Amarillo Downtown Library, 413 S.E. 4th Ave.

Public meetings will provide customers the opportunity to learn about ParkMobile and how to use the system. Information on how to sign up for ParkMobile will also be provided. 

The downtown parking management system, including ParkMobile, is scheduled to be implemented on March 4.

ParkMobile is the leading provider of smart-parking and mobility solutions in North America, and is widely available across the state of Texas in cities including Dallas, Houston, Austin and Fort Worth.

A few facts about paid downtown parking in Amarillo:

  • Paid parking will be enforced Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The required fee for parking will be $1 per hour. The paid parking boundary will be from S.E. Third Ave. to the north; S. Johnson Street to the east (only on the west side); S.E. 10th to the south (only on the north side) and S. Taylor to the west (only on the east side between Fourth Ave. and Ninth Ave.)
  • Initially, the designated area will allow parking for a maximum of three hours before motorists will need to move their vehicles to a new parking zone. 
  • The ordinance includes exemptions for certain state license plates/placards, such as handicap/disabled; disabled veterans; military medals, etc., per state law. Paid parking will not be enforced on city holidays.
