Toddler Swimming Safety

As we enter one of the most popular swimming weekends of the year safety experts urge parents to be extra cautious.
That’s because almost 800 children drown each year and more than half are under the age of five.
Despite many misconceptions, drownings are often silent and happen quickly and lifeguards cannot watch every child at all times.
Parents should keep an eye on their children at all times when they are near water and are encouraged to take CPR training in case of an emergency.
Children less than a year old are more likely to drown at home in a bathroom or bucket than a pool.
