Tiger Found In Houston Garage Getting Used To Grass At Sanctuary

A 350-pound tiger found in the garage of an abandoned house in Houston now has a new home  at least for now.

The year-old tiger — dubbed “Tyson” — is staying at the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas.

The 1,400-acre ranch provides a permanent home to hundreds of rescued animals, both domestic and exotic.

Tyson was found Monday in a locked cage that was placed inside the garage of an empty home.

Officials aren’t sure how long he’d been there.

They say he doesn’t even seem familiar with the feeling of grass under his feet.

Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch Director Noelle Almrud says, “We don’t know that he’s ever been on grass, so when we released him yesterday into his quarantine enclosure, he was getting used to even feeling grass under his feet which is pretty sad when you consider that he is a wild animal.”

The Black Beauty Ranch provides a permanent, safe home for its animals but authorities have to investigate Tyson’s background and a court will determine whether he gets to stay there permanently.
