The Importance of Getting Screened

To help raise awareness about various cancers and Hepatitis C in the Panhandle area and to educate people about steps they can take to protect themselves, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is hosting a free no-cost screening event on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1280 South Coulter. For more information, call (806) 414-9175.

Information also will be provided for tobacco cessation and free refreshments will be available. Attendees are asked to bring a photo ID and proof of address and income as some of the no-cost screenings require individuals to meet eligibility requirements.

Event partners include Northwest Texas Health System, Harrington Breast Center, the American Cancer Society, the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas, Accolade Homecare and Hospice, Tobacco Free Amarillo and TTUHSC’s SimCentral, Breast Center of Excellence and Get F.I.T. to Stay Fit program.
