Police say a man fatally stabbed his 16-month-old son and was shot in the leg by a neighbor who tried to stop the attack.
The stabbing was reported Sunday afternoon in the courtyard of an apartment complex in Lewisville.
Lewisville police say the toddler was rushed to a hospital but later died.
Witnesses told police that the man carried the child out of an apartment and yelled “Jesus is coming” before the attack.
As for the neighbor who shot the father police say he will not be charged.
Lewisville Police Dept. Capt. Jesse Huntersays, “”As for the defense of the third person, he’s legal. He’s defending that baby that couldn’t defend himself. Even if it was an adult that was being assaulted, in a way that would cause serious bodily injury or death, he’s legal to defend that person. And I’ve never in my entire career seen anything this brutal, thoughtless, just horrific crime.”
The father was also taken to the hospital after the neighbor shot him.
The father has been arrested.
