A toddler is dead after she got out of her crib and wandered into the road.
A passing motorist swerved so he wouldn’t hit her, but it was too late.
This is the moment right after a man hit and killed a 2 year old with his car.
You can hear the panic in his voice as he runs into a nearby liquor store to flag down a deputy who was parked there
“He was pretty upset and we tried to comfort him as best we could.”
If you live here, you know drivers bend the 50 mph speed limit on Bayshore quite often.
“We get up to about this area”
Summer Adams and her boyfriend had just finished dinner down the road at Bubba’s Shrimp last night.
This camera angle was her point of view in the passenger seat.
“He saw it she was really right there and like he said he almost hit her.”
The couple stopped and came back around to find 2-yr-old Mckenzie Holman, lying in the road way.
“It was surreal”
Child Protective Services is investigating Mckenzie’s death and say the family has had a history.
The family would not comment on any CPS matters.
Mckenzie’s mother also has a 6-month month old daughter who is staying with family members.
Investigators say the mother was home at the time.
She told deputies she put Mckenzie in her crib for the night.
She didn’t know her daughter was missing until police knocked on her door.
The driver is cooperating with authorities.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
