UPDATE August 8: Orozco has been booked into the Parmer County jail.

BOVINA, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Rangers and Bovina Police are investigating a murder in Bovina.

According to DPS Sgt. Cindy Barkley, Erica Sanchez, 31, of Bovina, was killed Monday morning.

DPS said the suspect, Michael Orozco, 39, of Muleshoe, has been charged with murder and is currently in police custody.

Officials said this is an active and ongoing investigation and all findings will be turned over to the Parmer County District Attorney’s Office.
