Even though Panhandle Days has wrapped up, the 86th Legislative Session for the State of Texas is ramping up.
KAMR Local 4’s Jackie Kingston spoke today with Rep. Four Price. He’s in his fifth term serving as our representative for District 87. During the lull between sessions, Rep. Price ran for speaker, ultimately bowing out and allowing for Rep. Dennis Bonnen to become Speaker of the Texas House.
Rep. Price said he has full confidence in the speaker.
“I think the fact that he’s appointed me chair of the calendars committee, and the fact that we developed a close friendship over many sessions and work well together, it’s indubitable of the confidence he’s got in me and vise versa, and I think he’s done a great job,” said Rep. Price.
Rep. Price spoke with us too about securing funding for the operational costs for the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine. He said it is a good sign that it is fully funded in the House’s budget now. And said he feels that funding issue is in as good a position as it could be to get done.
Rep. Price spent more time talking with us about the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, and other goals of his for this session.
You can watch an extended interview with him on Sunday morning during Politics Today at 10 a.m. on KAMR Local 4.
