A moderate drought has crept back into parts of the Texas panhandle.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, all Texas panhandle counties are abnormally dry or in a stage 1 moderate drought.

The monitor estimates 102,579 people are affected by the drought. That is only 3.94-percent of the state of Texas, which is up nearly a full percent from last week.

The drying conditions along with high winds have contributed to a number of wildfires across the region the past couple of weeks.

Chief Meteorologist John Harris says there is a slight chance for rain this weekend.
