Standoff Suspect in Custody

UPDATE 4/12/17:

Early Wednesday morning, Amarillo Police located 18-year-old Raul Holguin Jr, 1inside of a residence on the 2600 block of South Cleveland.

He was arrested on his warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and booked into the Randall County Jail.

UPDATE 10:45 P.M.:

The suspect is identified as Raul Holguin JR, 18 years old. 

The situation ended right before 10 P.M. After SWAT searched the home, Holguin was not found inside the home or around the area. 

The Amarillo Police Department is asking anyone with information about this or the whereabouts of Holguin to contact them. 


UPDATE 5:36 P.M.:

Today at 1 P.M., Amarillo Police Department officers were dispatched to an attempted auto burglary in the 3700 block of I-40. The witness gave the license plate on the suspect vehicle and it showed to be stolen out of Moore County.  The vehicle left the scene before officers arrived. Officers searched the area, but could not locate the suspect.

At 2 P.M., a patrol officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the area of Amarillo Boulevard and North Fillmore. The officer was unable to catch up to the vehicle.

At 2:10 PM, a motorcycle officer spotted the suspect vehicle driving south bound on Canyon Drive at 34th.

The motorcycle officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle.

A patrol officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the garage of a residence in the 4400 block of South Parker. The garage door was closing as the officer approached the house. The officers surrounded the house and began calling people out. Three people came out of the house, but the suspect who was seen driving the vehicle did not. APD SWAT and Negotiators were called to the scene to assist.

The situation is ongoing and updates will be given as we get them.

APD is asking that everyone avoids the area until the situation is under control.


APD SWAT and Negotiators are at a residence in the 4400 block of South Parker. 

There is a subject inside that is refusing to come out. 

The area around Southlawn Park is being blocked off to keep citizens at a safe distance. 

Officials with Amarillo ISD say school for Southlawn Elementary was already out but brought children in that were playing on the playground. Officials at Southlawn would then allow children to leave with their parents in a vehicle. Officials say that it was not a lockdown but just a precaution.

Amarillo Police say to avoid the area.

Amarillo Police and SWAT are on scene at a home on the 4400 block of Parker. 

A parent has contacted us that Southlawn Elementary is on lockdown. She was picking up her children and officials wouldn't allow her to leave the school without a vehicle.
