Police in Turkey have detained three suspects who were attempting to sell a thousand-year-old Bible.
The suspects attempted to sell the Bible to undercover police officers when they were arrested.
The Bible is written in the old assyriac language.
The Bible’s origins are not known.
Police said the book only had 51 pages left and its cover was widely damaged, although pictures made of gold leaf with religious motifs were intact inside the Bible.
Security forces also siezed other historical artifacts.
Last year, an authentic oil painting by Vincent Van Gogh was found in the trunk of a vehicle owned by a suspected artifact smuggler.
