When it comes to sandwiches, size does matter.
Subway customers can soon be sure that their ‘footlong’ sandwich is as long as promised.
A judge last week granting final approval to a settlement of a class action lawsuit.
The suit was file against the sandwich maker after an Australian teenager posted an image to Facebook in 2013 of his sandwich that was only 11 inches.
The image garnered international attention.
The New York Post writing it found 4 out of 7 ‘footlong’ sandwiches purchased in New York only measured eleven or eleven and a half inches.
Subway has agreed to to take steps to ensure its bread is at least 12 inches long including requiring franchisees to use a tool for measuring bread.
The restaurant says it will institute practices for quality assurance for at least 4 years.
Subway also said in a statement they were pleased the judge found no wrongdoing on their part.
