On Thanksgiving, you plan a meal, on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you plan to get good deals. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving or Giving Tuesday, plan to give! Giving Tuesday kicks off the giving season with 24 hours centered on giving to local nonprofits and supporting the community. Since its inaugural year in 2012, Giving Tuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.
This year, on Tuesday, November 28th, charities, families, business and community centers around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
The Amarillo Area Foundation, First United Bank and United Supermarkets have teamed up to bring the Giving Tuesday movement to our area-- where it's called The Panhandle Gives.
More than 60 local non-profits are signed on to participate. They will have the opportunity to receive donations made directly to their organization and also benefit from donations made to The Panhandle Gives general fund.
