Amarillo, Texas - When you consider that 90% of a child's brain is wired by age five, we need to be pouring into our young children. Week of the Young Child is April 24 - 28 and is about celebrating young children, their teachers and families.
The local early learning community, including the Panhandle Association for the Education of Young Children and the Amarillo Museum of Art are collaborating to put on a fun event to kick off the Week of the Young Child on Saturday, April 22. Celebrate children and families and art with an afternoon at the Amarillo Museum of Art.
In addition to visiting the museum, children will be able to participate in two different hands-on activities. A special book reading with a local storyteller will be one of the highlights of the event! Each child will bring home an art kit and a book for more fun and learning at home.
Here's what families can learn by coming to the event:
- How to help children learn through hands-on experiences
- The power of storytelling and reading to young children
