Officials with Randall County Fire Department said one person was transported to BSA Hospital due to smoke inhalation from a structure fire. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The fire began today on the 14000 block of Ortega Road at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Fire officials said everyone got out of the house safely but the home was a total loss.
Fire crews found a double-wide manufactured mobile home with heavy fire conditions throughout the structure. Immediate mutual aid was requested for Canyon, Lake Tanglewood, Timbercreek Canyon and Palisades Fire Departments.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 4:21 p.m. with a total of 13 fire units, three command vehicles and four support vehicles on scene.
After an investigation, the fire was determined to have started in the area of a northeast bedroom but the exact cause is still under investigation. The fire was completely extinguished at 6:00 p.m. and all fire units were released from the scene.
Randall County Sheriff’s Office and Randall County ESU helped to reroute traffic.
According to fire officials, the tenants were not insured at the time of the fire.
The seven residents who were living in the house have been referred to the Amarillo chapter of the American Red Cross. Anyone wishing to assist the residents can contact Red Cross officials.
