One soldier showed remarkable persistence last week preparing for Memorial Day weekend at Virginia’s Arlington National Cemetery
The Third US Infantry Regiment were placing flags at the graves of fallen soldiers when a strong storm passed through.
During the downpour, some soldiers had to be ordered to stand down from planting flags.
But this sentinel approached the tomb of the unknown soldier with US flags in hand, unfazed by the elements.
Tomb Sentinels remain anonymous out of respect for those who fought and died and were never identified.
245,000 flags are planted every year to make sure every fallen service member has a decorated final resting place.
