The Amarillo Fire Department battled and quickly contained a grass fire near Hastings Avenue this afternoon.
The blaze started north of Hastings and west of Broadway Drive.
No injuries were sustained and no structures were burned.
AFD Captain Larry Davis said there was not much fuel because the land was cleared for construction, and because of a previous grass fire in the area.
Davis said his crew was able to prevent the flames from jumping Broadway, and estimated around 25 to 30 acres were burned.
The only buildings threatened were in The Vineyards of Amarillo housing area, but the fire stopped several hundred yards short.
Traffic was diverted and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
