The San Jacinto neighborhood came together today thanks to area students.
Loving thy neighbor was the purpose of an event and walk at San Jacinto Christian Academy Today.
“It is a fundraiser for our school so we are trying to raise some funds but more important than that we are trying to express to our neighborhood that we love them and are glad to be a part of this neighborhood,” said Ed Thomas, San Jacinto’s superintendent.
Thomas tells us they wanted to do a fun event where they could show the neighborhood that they are appreciated and they are glad to be in the same community.
Students of all ages were at the event and say it is a good way for them to work together to spread some love.
“It is really cool just seeing everyone here together and it is cool seeing people who I usually don’t see and it is cool us all being united to do one thing,” said Ben Bowles, a junior.
“I like seeing all of the little kids sprint, it is really adorable and they are working really hard and they don’t really know what it is for but they are still raising money and stuff,” said Gracie Williams, a junior.
The students took pledges before the event and were able to raise funds by offering to help their neighbors.
Thomas says the day was full of life lesson for the students.
“It is all about the kids and they are enjoying it and having a good time and if we can apart to this generation of young people that we went to unite together and serve others, what a great benefit that is for our culture,” said Thomas.
Thomas says along with inviting community members to enjoy the day with them, they also dropped off gifts and donuts to area businesses to thank them.
