There are a couple rodeo events going on in Amarillo this weekend.
The Panhandle Cutting Horse Association is going on at the Bill Cody Arena Mar. 10 – Mar. 11 starting at 7 AM.
Cutting Horse is an event based on a Western-style form of ranching where the rider is required to make sharp turns around two barrels while timed.
The Original Team Roping Event will be at the Amarillo National Center Mar. 10 starting at 8 AM.
Team Roping is also a Western-style inspired sport that involved a header, a heeler, and a steer. The header ropes the horns of the steer and the heeler ropes the hind legs of the steer. The winner of the event is based on which team ropes a steer in the least amount of time.
