River Road High Students Raise Money for Downtown Women’s Center

News
Abby Billington and Autumn Graf, two River Road High School students, developed a promotional marketing plan for the Uptown Shoppe, an up-scale thrift store in Amarillo – one of three thrift stores owned by the Downtown Women’s Center.

Abby and Autumn have entered a DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) contest to measure increased revenue through a program which they have designed and are implementing the early part of next year.  This is the second year Abby and Autumn have entered DECA contest.  Last year their exam scores allowed them to win district and qualify for the state tournament in Dallas, Texas.  At state, they were medalists and runner ups for nationals.

A fashion show, with 12 teachers and 2 DWC women who have graduated from the recovery program,  kicked off the campaign at an all-school assembly on Tuesday morning at River Road High School. All clothing worn for the fashion show is from DWC’s Uptown Shoppe (upscale clothing at thrift prices).
