Representative Beto O’Rourke is touring the High Plains this week and made a stop in Amarillo.
The congressman was met with a crowd of nearly 500 at Austin Middle School.
This is Representative O’Rourke’s fourth visit to the High Plains.
He is campaigning for the US Senate seat currently held by Ted Cruz.
O’Rourke spoke about veterans issues, the economy, and what he hopes to accomplish if elected to the US Senate.
“Being in Amarillo for a fourth time this year is just another reminder that first and foremost we’re Americans,” said Rep. O’Rourke, “We’re Texans. We want to do right by each other. Right for this state and the right things for this country. That’s the way Amy and I feel. That’s what’s brought us back to Amarillo again.”
The event was organized by Indivisible Amarillo and the Potter and Randall County Democrats.
