Recaro child safety is recalling more than 173,000 car seats in the US.
The recall involves the Recaro Proride and the Recaro Performance Ride Car seats made before June 9th of this year.
When the car seat is installed using the top tether, the top portion of the restraint can crack and allow the top tether to detach, increasing the risk of injury to the child or other vehicle occupants.
Recaro says no injuries have been reported.
The company will send registered owners a length of webbing at no charge with instructions on how to further secure the child restraint.
Recaro can be reached at 1-866-628-4750.
