Walgreens and Rite Aid announcing Tuesday new policy raising the minimum age to buy cigarettes to 21.
Beginning September 1st it will be effective in all stores nationwide.
This news coming the same day the state of Vermont votes to up the legal smoking age.
Both policies showing attempts at keeping cigarettes and other tobacco products out of the hands of minors with data showing the majority of adult smokers picking up the deadly habit between the ages of 18 to 21.
