A new UN report is pointing towards adding a tax on red meat in an effort to save our planet.
The UN’s Global Environment Outlook took a closer look at the benefits this tax may have on the environment.
Officials say a tax on red meat would push consumers to consider implementing a plant-based diet over meat-rich diets.
They added that the tax would essentially reduce the amount of greenhouse gases produced by livestock farming, while contributing to reducing the number of animal habitats that are destroyed annually.
If changes aren’t made in a swift manner – UN reps warn that “there will be no tomorrow for many people.”
