DIMMITT, Texas Construction has been completed on Country View Living (CVL), the new senior living facility for Castro County Hospital District (CCHD). The facility that was recently built at the intersection of Butler Blvd. and Front Street in Dimmitt, Texas opened their doors to the public on March 11, 2019, inviting them to come and enjoy a cup of coffee. It is no regular cup of coffee though, it is Starbuck’s Coffee.
In February 2019, CVL announced that construction on the facility had been completed but were waiting on inspections to be scheduled before they officially opened. CVL sent in their request for the life safety inspection, but the Texas Department of Health and Human Services has 30 days to schedule the inspection. On February 28, 2019, CVL completed their safety inspection, and passed.
Since the life safety inspection was completed, CVL could admit three residents and then request for a health inspection. The state has 30 days to complete the health inspection once the request has been sent in. On Friday, March 8, 2019 the first two residents were admitted to CVL, with the third resident joining them on Monday, March 11, 2019. Once CVL completes their Health Inspection they will admit the remaining 29 people who are on their waiting list for the 60-bed facility.
CVL also has a designated wellness center, rehab area, activity room, salon, and chapel, as well as many gathering areas throughout the facility along with covered outdoor areas. That is not all this new facility has to offer residents and the Castro County community. CVL has partnered with Luby’s Culinary Services, a foodservice division of Luby’s Inc., that provides foodservice operations at healthcare, business and industry and higher education facilities.
The dietary staff for CVL have been working hard on learning Luby’s recipes and are excited to be serving the current residents at the facility. Right now, Luby’s is not open to the community, but CVL hopes to open to public in the future for lunch.
“We are very excited about partnering with Luby’s and opening our home to the community to enjoy as well,” said Laura Kimball, CVL’s Administrator. “This will not only give Dimmitt another place to dine but will help our residents continue to feel like they are a part of the community and enjoy outside interactions.”
The Luby’s partnership is what gave CVL the opportunity to also bring Starbuck’s Coffee to Dimmitt, Texas. The goal for adding Luby’s and Starbucks to the facility was to bring the
community into the facility to visit with residents, especially those without family and friends in the area. If you go to CVL to enjoy a Starbuck’s Drink or Coffee, it is a great opportunity to sit down enjoy your drink on site and visit with the residents.
CVL wants to celebrate and share with everyone this new facility and have scheduled a Grand Opening on Tuesday, March 26 from 2:00 – 6:00pm. There will be different Luby’s recipe samples for you to try, as well as some Starbucks samples. You will also be able to walk through the facility and see all the additions that have made this new senior living facility like no other in the area.
