Potter County Sheriff's Department: Dogs Possibly Killed During Home Burglary

Two family pets are dead and hundreds of dollars in tools are stolen from a home in Potter County.

According to Potter County Sheriff's Office, it happened Wednesday between seven and four in the afternoon at a home in the 100 block of Rustic Trail.

The family's two dogs were found dead in their swimming pool, and they believe the animals were drowned by the burglars.

One of the kids came home, discovered the burglary and notified the parents who were not home at the time.

"My nephew called me at about 4:30 pm," Homeowner David Ingle said. "He said I can't find your dogs. Then he called me again at about 6 pm. He said I found your dogs in the pool. I said, well get them out. He was like well, they drowned, they're dead."

Captain John Coffee of Potter County Sheriff's Office said they are following up on witness info.

"We'd ask the public to help us resolve this matter. Obviously, it is a pretty horrific matter for the family. But if anybody has information about this burglary, we are interested in talking to you. You can call the Potter County Sheriff's Office."

No one has been arrested at this time for the burglary.
