The Potter County Courts Building has been facing structural issues for years.
Back in November of 2018, the Potter County Commissioners’ Court has decided on a new location, right across the street from the current courts building.
But, no construction plans have been set into motion as of yet, so business continues as usual for now in the current building.
Nicholas Wade, the assistant director of facilities, gave KAMR Local 4 News an inside look at the damage.
“When people get summoned to go to jury, they don’t have a choice, they have to go there. So when you’re made to go sit on a jury, and you show up in a building that occasionally has a bad smell, the lights flicker, the ceiling tiles are water stained, it’s not very inviting,” Wade explained.
He said the west entrance of the building has been shut down for years. “A customer had walked in, and when the door closed behind her, one actually fell. That was years ago, that’s what finally prompted them to put the caution tape up,” Wade explained.
The entrance is just one of many issues. Watch the full report for more details.
