A plant-based diet can help athletes perform better.

According to a study by the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, athletes who eat plant-based diets see improvements in their heart health.

The study findings plant-based diets tend to be high in carbohydrates which may result in performance advantages.

It also resulted in increased blood flow and tissue oxygenation which helped performance and recovery.
