Plainview ISD Investigating Threat by Student

News

Plainview ISD said on its website that the school district is investigating threatening statements by a student.  The specifics of the threat were not disclosed by the ISD.  The high school was not placed on lockdown and the ISD said “the security risk is low.”

The following is the text provided by PISD on its website:

September 16, 2015
Dear Plainview High School Parents / Guardians,

Last night Plainview ISD and PHS administration responded to information provided by students who informed us that threatening statements had been made by one of our students.

We take information of this nature extremely seriously and immediately notified campus security and the Plainview Police Department. The administration and police department conducted a thorough investigation and have determined that the security risk is low, but as a precaution we are continuing to keep security elevated at PHS.

PHS Administrators and the Police Department know the location of the student who made the alleged threat and consider the situation safe.

We are extremely proud of our students for being forthcoming with information and their willingness to help us maintain a safe school. We also appreciate information provided by concerned parents.

The safety and security of our students and staff remains our primary concern.  Thank you for helping keep our schools safe.

Sincerely,
Greg Brown
Executive Director for Administrative Services
