Patriot Guard Begins Over 500 Mile Drive for Fallen Veterans Final Resting Spot

News

An army of Patriot Guard motorcycle riders began their escort of the cremated remains of veterans which had been unclaimed for more than a decade to their final resting place in San Antonio.

Joel Carver, founder of Lighthouse Funeral Home and Missing In America Project representative, researched the backgrounds on these unclaimed ashes and found that 17 individuals were veterans.

Community leaders have come together to help in this effort. Judge Tanner has supported the cause, gas stations along their route are donating fuel, schools, police and fire stations and community members plan to line the streets as the caravan comes through their cities, and Memorial Park Funeral Home is donating a hearse and urns for these veterans.

Those veterans, who have lay unclaimed in a Potter County courthouse basement, will be escorted by as many as 1,500 Patriot Guard riders to San Antonio to be placed in their final resting spot after a ceremony honoring their lives and service.
