Orlando: Extremism & Guns

(NBC News) Did the FBI miss an opportunity and let a terrorist attack in Orlando after interviewing Pulse nightclub gunman Omar Mateen in 2013 and 2014?
FBI Director James Comey on Monday said no.
“I don’t think so, I don’t see anything in reviewing our work that our agents should have done differently, but we will look at it in an open, honest way,” Comey said.
Comey confirmed Mateen was investigated twice by the FBI after he claimed links to terror groups, but no direct link to ISIS or Al Qaeda was found.
President Obama said the tragedy has two causes: radicalism and guns.
“We have to counter extremism, but we also have to make sure it is not easy for somebody who decides he has to harm people in this country not be able to obtain weapons,” Mr. Obama said.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, said the problem is not guns, it’s Islamic terror. The Republican presidential candidate also renewed his pledge to institute a ban on Muslim immigratns.
