Police have released more details on a traffic accident at 6th and Lamar yesterday.
On August 3 at 4:14 PM, officers were sent to the area of 6th and S. Lamar on a major traffic collision.
Officers determined that the driver of a blue Dodge four door was southbound on Lamar crossing SW 6th Avenue. A black Nissan Rogue was westbound on 6th at a high rate of speed.
According to officials, the front of the Nissan hit the driver’s side door and front fender area of the Dodge. The Nissan then continued across the eastbound lanes of SW 6th before crossing the curb line and striking a chain link fence, as well as a metal trailer and antique vehicles inside the fence.
Witnesses told officers that the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
Police say the driver of the Nissan fled the scene.
The Nissan’s passengers, two women age 19 and 22, were transported to the hospital by ambulance. We are told their injuries are not described as life-threatening.
Officers say the driver of the Dodge, a 37-year-old woman, told officers that she would seek medical attention but did not require an ambulance.
Police arrested the driver of the Nissan, Tyran Drew, 19, near 5th and S. Georgia.
He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Drew was then booked into the Potter County Detention Center for leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.
