The Area Agency on Aging along with numerous Community Partners will host the Older Americans Month Celebration on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at the Region 16 Education Conference Center in Amarillo, TX.
This event will include breakout sessions where participants will learn to identify and make informed decisions about their own health care and ways to live healthier and longer. There will be information regarding ways to improve the community, how to plant a garden, grow your own food, and how to become an advocate for seniors in the community. There will be guest speakers from various agencies discussing how to blaze a trail and age successfully.
Since this event falls of the 5th of May, there will be a Cinco de Mayo Salsa Contest. Attendees are encouraged to make their own special recipe to bring to the event where it will be judged. The winner will be given a cash prize. There is no cost for this event. Lunch is provided and registration is required.
