OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of Oklahoma residents who have died after contracting the coronavirus is nearly at 350 after state health officials Sunday reported another death and more than 90 new cases.

At least 7,150 people in Oklahoma have now tested positive for the virus, according to the State Department of Health. At least 348 people have died. Overall, new cases had been on a downward trend the past two weeks in the state.

The true numbers are likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal. The vast majority of people recover.
