Google has unveiled offline maps, a tool that allows users to be somewhere without internet access and still get turn by turn directions.

Users can look up a location and download a map while they’re connected via wi-fi, then use the map without using any data.

The app also will let you search for places like art galleries, restaurants and hotels, and get information like hours, phone numbers and reviews.

For now the offline maps app is just on the android platform.

iPhone users could see the app sometime before the new year.
